Month One- Sex Sex & More Sex!

The title to this post is just that, our sum up of month one in trying to conceive.

Have any of you noticed that when your wife decides she wants a baby, that is ALL that is on her mind, the baby! I understand that it is the greatest gift one can have, and although I don't have any children yet I find myself being biased to those husbands who want a child but find their wives are more obsessive about that than anything else, making the process more of an ovulation time sensitive sex fest than an actual love baby making one.

So we decided the month of May to be our first month in TTC (Trying to Conceive). My wife had on an IUD ( intrauterine device) a T shaped device that contains progesterone and goes into the uterus and prevents fertilization. She had one inserted May of 2012 and removed May 2013. She had all sorts of trouble with it inserted, irregular menstruation, bleeding after intercourse, massive mood swings, the whole bit. It was time for the IUD to come off for both of our sanities! She took it off and when she did we decided we are both in our late twenties why not start trying, and so we went at it FULL FORCE!

Let me tell you it isn't easy keeping up with a woman who wants a baby. I love sex just as much as the next guy but when your wife wants a baby, she doesn't want sex she wants your semen inside her! So we tried as much as she wanted to.

Days of ovulation came and LH sticks were used. If you don't know what those sticks your wife is using to find out if sex is needed then let me explain. Luteinizing Hormone is a hormone your wife's pituitary gland produces that tells her female parts it time for ovulation. Ovulation is the time of the month when your wife's egg is released and is viable for sperm to enter it and make a baby. It's a window of opportunity for our little swimmers to make it up and in and create life, simply said but not as simply accomplished.

Once ovulation is over, your wife or at least my wife, thinks sex time isn't over for another week because even thou ovulation last between 8-48 hours and sperm can live up to five days in the vagina ( yes I have done all this research my friends!) she still has a need to make sure she is overloaded with swimmers in order to make that baby! So we have sex for days after ovulation.

Ahh, a break from sex!

Well as soon as the sex stops the pregnancy tests come out, every day she tests. And even though she knows it will turn out negative if she does it too far away from the day menstruation is suppose to take place she still puts herself through that. WHY?!? and of course it is our job to try and make her feel better because at the end of the day we want that baby too and it's never a nice sight to see the woman you love unhappy. So we say everything will be okay and it will happen when it's suppose to and she believes you until the next day when she tests again...

Day of Supposed Menstruation... It's Negative and There is Blood

Your wife and yourself have failed to make a baby, because making a baby is almost like playing the lottery, all the odds have to be in your favor, it isn't as easy as everyone thinks it is. She cries, and I encourage her in saying it was our FIRST MONTH, there is nothing wrong here.

There isn't anything wrong with not getting pregnant the first month trying, when you are a health young couple chances are within the first year of trying to conceive it will happen.

Now What?... We try again next month in hopes of a Positive.
